The @CIGARINN facade is making progress. Here is a recap of my previous two sessions, the last of which included a miner’s style headlamp. Fashion. Trend. Watch. Thank you to everyone who has come out to visit: my lovely Erin, Pace, Kat, B-Rad, A-Sizzle, Wender and Co. and, of course, the passer’s by who make my day 100X more enjoyable with conversation.
As always, Bass, Billy and Gus have treated my friends and me like royalty. Process, and nerdy headlamp shots after the jump.
Finally getting down to the paint – starting out with the canopy to anchor the composition.
Blocking out the basic large swatches of blue.
Mixing up a blue sidewalk – why not?
The grates are slightly darker, hence the shade variation in this under painting layer.
In a canvas of this size, it can be challenging to work the entire surface at the same time.
Focused on the reflection.
Blocking out the storefront window.
Starting to make sense of the whole canvas.
Unfortunately, with the way my spine curves, I always appear to have quite a robust gut – in actuality, it is only a moderate to slight gut.
Bringing the heat… or at least, some of the warm colors.
Beginning to build the reflective surface; waiting for the sun to go down for the sexy lighting.
Getting dark, getting closer to eliminating the whites.
This is about exactly the light I will use to complete the picture.
Beginning to refine the picture, from the top down.
Wavy reflections are so the rave right now.
Really getting in there, borderline, obsessing over the top reflections.
A detail for your viewing pleasure, or not pleasure, if you don’t like details.

Headlamp and spotlight – everything was moving along until Mr. Rain crashed the party. Damn you rain.
B-Rad took some snaps, here, you can see an onlooker and I appear to have coordinated the same behind the back signal – this, I assure you, is total coincidence.

Now that my only pair of Diesel jeans have a massive rip in them, they have joined my growing legion of painting clothes.
Awesome snap by B-Rad!

Nothing says fashion like a miner’s head lamp. Workin’ it.
Overall, making some good progress – with time running out as the weekend approaches, I may have to bang out some of this picture in the studio. Stay tuned for the finished work.
You do awesome work. Glad B Rad put me in touch with the site. I am B Rad and A Sizzle’s Mom. I may need find something here I want. If you hear either of them say they would like to have one of your works of art, please e-mail me as I may just need to get something for Christmas for them or A’s graduation.
Keep up your talent!
