California High School Art Students Create Borbays

Geisha | Madison

The world is an incredible place. During my first year as a professional artist, I dedicated my social self to meeting creative, passionate people. Lora Sanders is one of those inspiring artists I met through Twitter, and have since struck up a real-life friendship. When she told me she was going to have her California High School Art Classes create work in my style, I was flattered. The results (many after the jump, Geisha by Madison pictured above) are stunning.

About the project:

“Technically teenagers hold a certain depth and soul that can be extracted and channeled with the right inspiration.  Jason Borbay’s artistic style provided them with just that; an engaging view into iconic Pop art that inspired them to mix visual pictures with newspaper headlines.  Students created 18 x 24 paintings in Borbay’s style, and for three weeks did as he flawlessly does…. remained a step ahead of cultural currents in today’s crazy universe.  Thanks for the inspiration Borbay!”

  3. tony black says:

  4. Leslie van Laer says:

These pieces of art are amazing! Each piece makes the viewer feel as if he knows the artist as well as what they are clearly expressing! Being a fellow artist it is fantastic a high school teacher has taken her passion and time in leading our children in the right direction. Our world is a unique place and seeing how the children view it with their own exploration through their work is simply a rare treat. Hat’s off to all the artists and their mentor.

  5. Heather Lambert says:

Unbelievable, I never in a million years would have thought these were painted by high school students. They look like they should be in a gallery. The Geisha speaks to me I feel a sense of tranquility from the artist.Nice work to all the students. Great job to a teacher who obviously cares.

  6. [...] continue to be impressed (and flattered) by the work her students create. It’s exciting and important to be involved with art education. [...]
