About FLYNY 2010

FlyNY is an annual international kite design competition, showcase and flying event open to architects, engineers, artists, designers and the community at large. The event aspires to inspire design novices and professionals alike through the challenge of designing and flying a kite. New York City youth and families are invited to take part in free kite-making and fun activities throughout the day.

FlyNY invites you to design and donate an original, handmade kite for the 2nd Annual NYC international kite design competition. Upload your design ideas to Architizer.com by August 10th. FlyNY will short-list approximately 40 kites for participation in a special pre-launch event and auction on August 20th, where a distinguished jury, Craig Dykers of Snøhetta, Cameron Sinclair and Kate Stohr, co-founders of Architecture for Humanity and BurdaStyle co-founder Nora Abousteit, will review your kite and curate a live panel discussion. All proceeds raised from the auction will benefit the New York Office of Architecture for Humanity. On August 21st, come out to Pier I at 70th Street in Riverside Park South and showcase your design at the public kite flying event. Encourage your friends and colleagues to review your designs on Architizer, as FlyNY will consider community favorites!
