New York, NY and New Rochelle, NY - October 5, 2010 – New York Location Artist and Time Out New York’s Most Creative New Yorker 2009, Jason Borbay, will be the inaugural Guest artist/lecturer in Professor Ryan Seslow‘s Art Appreciation course at Iona College, on Thursday October 21st, 2010, at 6:30PM. Borbay will share his paintings, process, professional background and day-to-day through a visual presentation.

A major advocate of art education, Borbay is passionate about discussing not only the aesthetics of art, but the underlying business mechanisms to help inspire creative talent to navigate the waters of the “real world” without compromise. Borbay’s work has been featured on Time Out New York, The Huffington Post, New York Post, New York Times and more.

Course Description

FPA 200 Art Appreciation is an introduction to the concepts, theories, and principles of art.  Content is extended through a lecture series of images, video, museum visits, discussions, and live art happenings. Students participate in a variety of reflective activities both in and outside of class time. Presentations cover art from ancient times to present. The course is for any student interested in developing basic “visual literacy”.

About Ryan Seslow

Ryan Seslow is a multidisciplinary artist, independent curator, and professor of fine arts living and working in New York. Working in all mediums Ryan shows and shares his work on a regular basis in various formats, both nationally and internationally. Professor Seslow teaches fine arts courses simultaneously between four different colleges in the metropolitan NY area. He is an adjunct associate professor at Iona College teaching Introduction to Sculpture, Advanced Sculpture, and Art Appreciation.
