FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chelsea Piers, New York, NY - February 1, 2011 – The journey to crown a champion begins with a single game. A heated Division 6A Chelsea Piers adult league hockey rematch will be under way this Friday, February 4th, at 8:30 PM. Sparks should fly when the Lions, winners of 20 of the last 24 or so attainable crowns, square off against “a straight team called TBD” — a rivalry documented and recorded in the New York Times.
Beyond their superb track record, the Lions are known for their rambunctious crowds. This spurred TBD co-captain Borbet to make the following statement: “We know these guys are good hockey players, no question about it. When the immeasurable glory of a D6A hockey title is on the line, things are going to get a bit chippy out there. They always have quite a crowd, making signs, cheering for their boys and sometimes girl enthusiastically. Well, I am here to put out a call to arms. TBD is ready to tame the Lions, and we need your help! Come and support the boys in yellow, I promise the beer will flow like wine after. Bring your warm fuzzy gloves, cowbells and a cooler full of root beer, and root for TBD.”
When reminded of the well reported 7-3 loss, Borbet added, “Unfortunately, our subsequent 5-4 win didn’t receive much coverage. Then again, the following 3-2 loss went unnoticed, so I suppose it’s a wash. Either way, this Friday will probably be the best adult league division 6A hockey game played on February 4th before 11PM anywhere in the world. It’s a must see.”
This reporter wasn’t able to reach anyone from the Lions for comment on this article, but since this reporting practice seems to work for The New York Times, it works here.
