Things happen in the worl that are completely out of our hands. Tragedies, man made or by nature, can completely change the lives of millions… and it happens in an instant. When I heard about the Japanese Tsunami, I felt a combination of sadness, concern (for my friends and collectors in the area) and numb.
Numb because in our day and age of social media, we find out about disasters as they occur. There is an immediate response from the world, and then suddenly, another disaster happens and the attention shifts. This creates a duality of response: brilliant and compassionate; swift and forgetful.
While I have no answers or solutions, I do have an opportunity to personally help the people of Japan. During The Influence Series #WeLoveJapan event, I created a painting of the relief party. This work of art is now up for auction through Charity Buzz. If you would like to own a Borbay original, and benefit people in need, please do place a bid. I would love to send the Red Cross as much money as possible through my humble contribution.
Thank you in advance, and God bless the people of Japan.
