This past Thursday, I had the honor of guest lecturing for Ryan Seslow‘s Art Appreciation Class at Iona College for a second time. My presentation revolved around my history, work, process, day-to-day and wrapped up with a 30-minute “draw the Guggenheim” exercise.

And now, my presentation slide-by-slide, as well as the resulting class drawings.

Lionel Hutz once posed a brilliant question… “who are you, and what are you doing here?”

The future is a result of the past, so I like to share mine.

Here is my two-year anniversary post, celebrating the chase…

As an independent, unrepresented artist (and this applies to many businesses), press is a major facilitator for success.

Ah, the nearly blank slide… ones greatest catalyst for Power Point suspense.

I’m fond of process on all levels, which is why I began sharing my work from two years ago. The Woolworth was a critical step along the way.

Where it all began, year one of a Guggenheim painting, each year, for twenty years.

Now, the segue into New York Post collage paintings… Mr. Tilley, you randy dandy.

My self portrait and Eustace served as a foreshadowing for my later figurative series.

The Apple Store… since this painting, the cube was removed, and will be remodeled with fewer panes. And, as we all know, Mr. Steve Jobs sadly passed away — one year can change a great deal.

Year two of the Guggenheim… same size canvas, same location, same month, different style.

The last King I painted in the series… explores a new visual element, contour outlines which flow similar to a subway map.

Year three of the Guggenheim…

At this slide, I switched over to my Wayne Process video on Daily Motion.

Any entrepreneur can tell you this slide is a gross understatement, however, it’s important to keep your class awake — brevity is king.

Now for the best part… everyone in the class spends thirty minutes drawing the Guggenheim from this slide. As you will see below, for a bunch of kids that said, “I can’t draw at all”… they created some strong Guggenheim.
