The day after Christmas, we packed our bags and flew to Bangkok for our belated honeymoon. It was a luscious four week excursion. I did things unprecedented in my adult life… I read seven books without interruption. Sat on the beach. Worked very little.
Here is my recap of Bangkok… some art, graffiti (not mine), Thai boys, booze, tales, statues, gold, roof decks and a whole lot more.
Kicking things off properly with a koozie and a dream. One of my many, many Singha’s.
My bride in the doorway. At this place, we ordered food, and the guy drove up with a tray on a scooter. Street food, even in a restaurant.
220 Volts, that’s a lot of volts.
Not sure who BNE is, but he was here. And here.
I like to interpret this as Disco Addict, so I will.
Not sure what Poas stands for, but somebody clearly does.
Utah Ether, all over Bangkok. For serious ones.
Love me some unusually shaped buildings.
Happy 2012 ya’ll.
I made this 8″X8″ pencil/india ink drawing/painting on the roof deck of the Four Points Sheraton, which was excellent by the way. I left this piece behind for a charity auction at the Rotary Club Leadership Gala, in Shanghai, China.
A view of the pool and building I captured.
My lovely bride and a coconut of deliciousness.
Back on the roof, back to the draw.
The Dream Hotel in Bangkok.
A postcard drawing of said Dream Hotel for a friend and collector.
The Four Points roof deck has a Vegas feel.
Lessons from your high school photography class live forever, right Mr. Pastor?
Someone captured my old facial hair pattern in stone.
Buddhas from here to next Tuesday at the Royal Palace.
Fedoras are truly timeless.
Gigantic Wat Pho Reclining Buddha, this guy is like 150 feet long.
Repetition of form.
It’s a toothy situation.
Some carry a gun. Others carry a fanny pack.
Neckface on the Bangkok tip.
Life changes here, but is it for the better?
“Who’s Afraid of Al Wei Wei” — jump on the Al Wei Wei bandwagon one and all. He was a major story in 2011… so the next time you are around some snobby art people at a party, be like, “oh, that Al Way Way situation was out of control” — watch the nostrils flare with passion.
Building like a face, and remember Kodak?
About to see Calypso… Thai Boys show. If you don’t have anything nice to say about an poorly choreographed and executed show…
Despite this relatively interesting, if odd picture… the show was not very entertaining. It made me really appreciate the quality of Broadway.
Money Kills… the photo really says it all. For the record, I don’t agree with this thought.
Look, I never wanted to ride and elephant, but I’m not going to let me wife go alone…
My beautiful lady.
There it is.
Capturing some video while on the boat… was hoping it would be awesome, but turned out to be only average. Stand by for Ko Samui, Koh Phangan and Shanghai.
