JACKSON, WY – June 2, 2016 — Time Out Magazine’s Most Creative New Yorker and Teton Valley transplant, Borbay, will debut his electric light paintings at the Art Association Gallery located at 240 South Glenwood St., Jackson, WY 83002, from June 18 – July 30, 2016. The acrylic paintings showcased explore the interaction of natural and man-made light, in dazzling Manhattan and Jackson locations.

The opening reception on July 7th, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 PM, will feature deliciously smooth cocktails courtesy of Jackson Hole Still Works and will be recorded for a documentary produced by award-winning filmmaker, Glenn Østen Anderson. This film represents the first installment in Anderson’s new body of work, “The Portrait Series”, and will focus on Borbay’s creative journey from Manhattan to Victor, Idaho — with stops along the way in Exuma (The Bahamas), Jackson Hole and Minnesota. While Borbay and his family will be the central characters of the film, Anderson will delve into the creative and entrepreneurial fabric of Teton Valley.

Selected by judges from Sotheby’s, Gagosian Gallery and Christie’s Collectrium, to show at the globally renowned Accessible Art Fair in November, Borbay had this to say, “Ask my wife, I swore I’d never leave Manhattan. All it took was three months of painting in Teton Village, and boom — we traded a decade of the Chrysler building for the Tetons. Along the way, a fortuitous introduction to Shari Brownfield opened my eyes to a legion of talented artists, spectacular galleries and world-class organizations like The Art Association. The Teton Valley art scene is exploding, and I’m honored to share my paintings with such an enlightened and inspiring community.”

Over the course of the exhibition, Borbay will create a new work-of-art at the gallery, providing personal tours and insight into his creative process.

ABOUT BORBAY

https://www.borbay.com//

Two years ago, a collector flew Borbay to Wyoming for a Jackson Hole-inspired commission. The experience was so transformative — he relocated to Teton Valley. A self-represented artist, Borbay’s work is collected globally, and has been featured by an impressive breadth of revered news outlets. Time Out New York Magazine named him their Most Creative New Yorker. He defaced Andy Warhol’s Marilyn and Major League Baseball hung it up in their Fan Cave. He knew Forbes’ Hip Hop Cash Kings list before Forbes did, and was recruited by the same outlet to write about art business. His collages incorporating New York Post headlines became a New York Post headline. He’s painting the Guggenheim each year for 20 years, and intends to show the series in the Guggenheim itself. His work graced the cover of Zack O’Malley Greenburg’s best-selling business book from Simon & Schuster, “Michael Jackson, Inc.”. Celebrated by everyone from BBC World to the Wall Street Journal Japan, Borbay is thrilled for his Western solo debut at The Art Association of Jackson Hole.
