  59th Street Apple Store Cubed Being Torn Down… For Good? General Action | (0)

  Breaking News! The 59th Street Apple Store Cube is currently being taken down for "renovations". The cube, which I painted last summer, may never be exactly the same. The entire process was captured on this campaign site. Here is a photo from The Gothamist: This is definitely one of the most exciting/interesting aspects of painting on-location; you never know what will be here today, and gone tomorrow. My ESPN Zone painting was completed only months before the Times Square Location was closed forever.

  I've had my eye on the controversial redesign of the Museum of Art and Design for some time. When I discovered a composition including the CNN Sign and the sexy Hearst Tower, how could I resist? The piece followed Apple Store Painting, which established a new series of constants; a visual un-collaged void, my portrait reprinted in the NY Post as a collage element, and a well known public figure adorned with a target.   Apple's stock finally surpassed the mighty Microsoft, to the chagrin of Steve Ballmer no doubt. But wait, now there is a huge security flaw with the iPad... oh, and Steve Jobs thinks Flash is garbage. And Obama thinks the iPad is a major distraction - he told some recent college grads. All considered, I had little choice but to paint one of New York's most photographed locations. In the picture, Steve Jobs is both the Godfather, and a man with a target on his head. Apple clashes with Flash, and is singled out by the President. ...
