Painting Process Ditch Plains Beach Bungalow, Montauk Long Island Painting Process | Comments
Another day in Montauk, another painting. Following an amazing evening at Navy Beach, Paul Zepeda and me hit Ditch Plains beach in search of good bungalow. When hockey teammate and friend Peter Niemi invited yours truly to join him in Montauk, I set the land-speed record for the word 'yes'. So, fellow artist Paul Zepeda and yours true hit the rails and arrived in Montauk on Tuesday afternoon, in search of a great painting location. Without pause, Peter recommended Navy Beach... jackpot. I Be Paintin in Jamaica, Runaway Bay Mon Painting Process | Comments
Ah, holiday. My in-laws-to-be were kind enough to bring Erin and I along with them to Jamaica. Beach vacation means 10"X10" beach paintings. We stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe, in Runaway Bay. It is a practically brand new resort. We left the resort for a visit to the Appleton Rum plant, as well as a trip to Dunn River Falls. But my painting took place on the resort. My Summer on Canvas, Around the City, Around the World General Action | Comments
As an artist, referring to a painting as the recently departed is a very good thing. My first painting of the summer, The Apple Store, was acquired by a collector in Japan days after a write up in the Wall Street Journal Japan. The rest of my summer was spent further exploring collage painting, revisiting an acrylic only approach, and working on commissions I cannot yet reveal to the public. When good ol' Ari Lankin offered up a ride to Long Beach, I thought to myself, "yes, I would like to paint on the beach today." A few minor roadside issues later, we were en route to the Smithtown High School relocation district.
