February 16 Iona College Gallery Walk-Through, Ionian Show Review UPDATED General Action | Comments
On Thursday, February 16th, at 6:30PM, both myself and artist Ryan Seslow will be providing a walk-through of our show: "Street Legal - Gratiffyti: Seslow & Borbay on Canvas", at The Brother Kenneth Chapman Gallery Iona College Arts Center. Our exhibition was recently covered by the Ionian, here is a taste: "What at first glance appears to be another exhibit dedicated to street art becomes much more complex at further examination. While Joe Flacco and Tom Brady were busy exchanging sacked lunches, Ryan Seslow and yours truly were hosting the opening reception for “Street Legal – Gratiffyti: Seslow & Borbay on Canvas” at Iona College. The opening was a smashing success, thanks to Iona College, Madalyn Barbero and the entire team. My lovely wife and me in front of Mr. Pitt. This Sunday, January 22nd, from 1:00-3:00 PM, “Street Legal – Gratiffyti: Seslow & Borbay on Canvas” will open at Iona College. Taking place at the The Brother Kenneth Chapman Gallery Iona College Arts Center, this exhibit will explore a NYC inspired street style, on canvas, with a focus on portraiture. My self portrait anchors the wall opposite the entrance. This piece was completed in January 2010, and stylistically set the compass for the ensuing two years. Coming up next in my dope actors kicking ass in monster roles: Daniel Day Lewis as Bill The Butcher in Gangs of New York. When I first saw this movie back in college, I instantly became obsessed with DDL's performance. So intense. Here is the photograph of the still from the movie — this is an important reveal scene, where the Butcher sees Dicaprio for the first time as he emerges from a fire saving a pal. Introducing piece number two in my kick-ass actors in sweet movies I love series: Brad Pitt as Mickey O'Neil, from Guy Ritchie's Snatch. This still was taken from the scene where Turkish and Tommy the Tit make a bet with Mickey (right about 2:15 in) over hare coursing. Sadly for the boxing promoters, the hare is not proper fucked. Coming Up Next: Brad Pitt From Snatch, aka Pikey Pitt General Action | Comments
Coming up next, in what is becoming my "actors in movies I love being bad-ass and, thus far, all wearing hats" series — Brad Pitt in Snatch. Here is the cropped-to-frame, digitally altered image which will serve as the composition. Mr. Pitt — aka, Pikey Pitt (and yes, I realize "Pikey" is a naughty word, but in the context of the film, it works, so it too shall work in the context of this painting) will be the second piece in this series. Pitt joins Depp in Fear and Loathing. Stand by for the emergence of this new painting.
