  Painting Process | TriBeCa Grand Commission Completed Painting Process | Comments

  In mid-February, I was commissioned by the CEO and Founder of BEVFORCE to recreate the storied TriBeCa Grand Hotel on a 48"X60" canvas. Rapidly growing, the men and women of BEVFORCE required a larger, loftier space and with that came bare walls.   When I noticed coverage of my current painting on the TriBeCa Citizen earlier this week, I emailed editor extraordinaire Erik Torkells, inviting him to BEVFORCE HQ for a closer look. The result?   Here is where the canvas left-off after day one. With the entire surface covered, the process begins to slow down as the details begin to materialize. Day's two and three were a blast. I was privy to a delicious slice of cake from Billy's in honor of Sean's one year BEVFORCE anniversary.   Painting Process | Bike Racing Commission Painting Process | Comments

  Commissioned paintings always begin with a concept. This piece was based on a series of photographs provided by the client. However, we quickly ran into an issue: there wasn't a clear picture of the racer. Fortunately, knowing the subject, I phoned him and scheduled a photo-shoot for "an advertising campaign" - the painting was a surprise present, so I had to get creative. It began with an inspiration palette, including photographs, books on German and Italian Design, with a splash of Kandinsky.
