After the incredible Urbania ride, words cannot describe how much I enjoyed getting back to painting. I began painting this prior to my collage painting portrait, but it sat idle, unfinished. With time, it has undergone an interesting journey - there was some darkness and this 18"X24" canvas was the recipient. Featured in Time Out New York and The Huffington Post, Urbania, Borbay's debut one-night-only art exhibition was a smashing success. Hosted at M&T Bank's Flatiron location and produced by Justin Brock Schantz (above with Borbay) of Left Brain Power, over 350 beautiful people enjoyed the architectural impressionist work, while sipping delicious Montecristo Rum and St-Germain cocktails. Continuing on my new collage series, I decided to create a self portrait. With nothing but time - thanks broken leg - I decided to tackle a large-scale, three-by-four-foot format. Here it is, a portrait of the artist as a not so young man - comprised of the printed page, clippings from @TheNewYorkPost - which one day in the near future will no longer be in print, but rather illuminated on a digital screen. At the inset of 2009, my name was Jason Borbet, and I was working as business director (see above) for an interactive advertising firm. My days were filled with Statements of Work, Capabilities Presentations, Phone Calls and Emails. In May, Erin and me embarked upon a two week vacation to Maui - my first fortnight away from work in six years.
