Broadway Bares Revisited for Jerry Mitchell Painting Process | Comments
During Broadway Bares Las Vegas, Josh Strickland won my painting created live at Planet Hollywood. This year, however, before host Scott Nevins brought down the gavel, Director and recent "Mr. Abbott" Award Winner Jerry Mitchell, matched Strickland's bid, asking if I would recreate the painting for him. Painting From Cabana 119, Surrender, Las Vegas at The Encore Painting Process | Comments
Upon finishing the Four Queens on Fremont Street, we banged over to The Encore for a six hour live painting session at Surrender. We began at 10PM and painted until 4AM. Thanks to the wonderful and talented Paula Caselton and Jerry Mitchell — Ari Lankin, Paul Zepeda and yours truly were invited to live paint at Broadway Bares Las Vegas. 2012's edition entitled "Barelesque" was a sexy, rollicking good time. While the finest performers in Las Vegas shook their money makers on-stage, we had 45 minutes to create a painting from the aisles. Immediately upon completion, Absinthe's stars The Gazillionaire and Penny Pibbets auctioned our works. 2011 Borbay’s Year In Review on Canvas and Beyond General Action | Comments
2011 began true and proper with HOV... a work of art, a Warhol (already). He was both the first of my #KingsOfHipHop, and the first painting of the year. Looking back, 2010 kicked-off with a flavor of Vegas, and 2009 was about the actual jump from ad-man to artist. Jay-Z got a nice little shout from The Source, a terrific start to year filled with outstanding press coverage. While Jay was in process, I was also working on a commission of Citi Field... at night. Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of representing ARTPROV at Disney's Festival of the Masters, presented by Michaels. I was commissioned to paint two 24"X36" canvases: one a compilation of the six, live 20-minute ARTPROV shows; the other — a parkscape of Downtown Disney's Pleasure Island. Our Broadway Bares adventure began when Ari Lankin painted an impromptu tatoo on the arm of a Kriss Angel dancer in front of the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign.
