The Sahara hotel, slated to close forever next week, was the first location I was asked to leave. Anywhere. In the world. Despite the bike security guard being mad cool, I was shocked when we were forced out. I was offered a meeting with their marketing director... but when I went inside to meet with him, he was nowhere to be found. Classy. Painting Process | The El Cortez Hotel, Fremont Street, Las Vegas Painting Process | (5)
Nine days in Vegas was the case that they gave me. Actually, it's the trip I booked online. Painting number two was to be a true Las Vegas experience. The El Cortez Hotel on Fremont Street — the uncovered portion (important detail). We wanted to experience the Vegas you see in the movies... from the books. Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada! For years, this sign has been on my painting hit list. Finally, on an absurdly hot and windy pair of April Days in Vegas — it went down, and it was weird. Somehow I was able to snap this picture with nobody in front of the sign — a rarity. Particularly on our first day of smok painting went down on 4/20/2011. Holla Gilbert! Painting My Mug on My Goalie Mask – Paint Everywhere General Action | (0)
Upon returning from my leg break, I've been playing mostly goalie (for now). That said, the same question kept coming up - "how can you, an artist, not have a painted goalie mask?" Fair point, so I decided to slap my mug on my dome. This wasn't a traditional, sand the surface, airbrush, spray fix job. Rather, it was a quick, paint brush, paint brush fix situation.
