And without further adieu: the final piece on the Larchmont series: Berry's Favorite Place. Here is a video of the process. This painting is different in many ways, beginning with the source image. It is a composite of three photographs: one taken from Berry's perspective; a second taken by yours truly to fill in details; and a third, also taken by Berry, of her house in black-and-white, which was placed to the right of the pool in Photoshop. Here is the second painting in my Larchmont, New York commissioned series for the wonderful Hoffman family. This particular 24"X30" canvas is painted from the perspective of sitting in the hot tub... and is aptly entitled, "Laura's Favorite Place". 2010 Borbay’s Year in Review on Canvas General Action | Comments
2010 kicked-off with a new title — Time Out New York's Most Creative New Yorker... and a broken fibula. By the end of my first full calendar year as a professional artist, I hung in two exhibitions, got back on the ice, painted furiously and most importantly — got engaged to the woman of my dreams. Twitter shall prevail. Through a Follow Friday recommendation from artist extraordinaire @tonyblacknyc, I connected with the @CIGARINN. After viewing their site, I realized this would be a prime storefront to paint - so I sent them an @ reply prior to my departure, noting "look out for a paint splattered guy wearing a white hat."
