Painting Process: Central Park Southeast at Twilight Painting Process | Comments
Central Park Southeast... at Twilight... my third Futurist Revival canvas. Many of these buildings hold a special place in my heart... but I'll get into that later. On a freezing pre-blizzard eve, I stood on the bridge by Wollman Rink and snapped the scene from day to night. This was the lighting I used as the jump-off point. Sutton Place at Twilight, a Borbay Painting Painting Process | Comments
I've always been a fan of Futurism, twilight and magnificence of Manhattan... so I decided to combine all three for my first major painting of 2013. The result: Sutton Place at Twilight... a magical intersection where the 59th Street Bridge startlingly appears between buildings. Here is a month of work in just under 90 seconds, set to the sweet sound of The Rotaries... This source image was taken at 30 Sutton Place (a Candela building) on a bone chilling night, during a long walk with fellow artist Paul Zepeda.
