During Broadway Bares Las Vegas, Josh Strickland won my painting created live at Planet Hollywood. This year, however, before host Scott Nevins brought down the gavel, Director and recent “Mr. Abbott” Award Winner Jerry Mitchell, matched Strickland’s bid, asking if I would recreate the painting for him.
Thumbs up.
Here I am with Strickland, at Planet Hollywood, with the original Broadway Bares Vegas 2013 painting.
Re-creating in the studio without the show unfolding before me was a different experience… fortunately, the vivid memory was residing in the forefront of my mind. Here, as in the original, I pay tribute to many of the excellent shows Jerry has created, including recent Broadway titan, Kinky Boots… as well as most of the current cast of Peepshow…
Including the handsome Strickland, front and center next to some fine ladies, including Marilyn, Ireland Baldwin, and a Jeremy Penn approved icon…
And current Peepshow star, Coco, with La La Anthony, Jennifer Hudson and Sophia Loren as Cleopatra. The images have been ripped from copies of the New York Post, magazines and books… hence, the varying textures.
Thank you Jerry for acquiring this work, I look forward to delivering her to your collection.
