PRIVATE ACQUISITION | PATRONAGE | INDEPENDENT PLACEMENT

Borbay does not wait for galleries. He builds his market. He places originals deliberately with collectors, curators, and institutions who understand that art is not a commodity — it is a conversation with time, context, and presence.

Every original carries intent. Production is limited. Placement is strategic.

This page describes how thoughtful patrons may acquire an original, engage in commissions, or participate in a long-term alignment model.

CUSTODIANSHIP AND MARKET INDEPENDENCE

Collectors of Borbay are not merely owners. They are custodians — individuals who choose to hold an original, live with it, interpret it, and carry it forward as part of its broader historical journey.

Because Borbay controls his own market, placement is not a matter of supply and demand alone. It is about relationship, context, and mutual vision.

This ethos shapes acquisition, availability, and the frameworks that support enduring collector relationships.

AVAILABLE ORIGINALS

A curated selection of completed originals is available for private consideration at any given time. These originals are exhibition-ready and intentionally limited.

Collectors may request:

  • Current availability
  • Private viewing or curated presentation
  • Acquisition context and strategic framing

To ensure quality of engagement, Borbay responds personally to all such inquiries.

THE BORBAY EQUITY PRICING MODEL (BEPM)

In alignment with his independent market strategy, Borbay offers serious collectors a structured acquisition framework — the Borbay Equity Pricing Model.

The BEPM allows qualified patrons to acquire an original 10%, 20%, or 30% below established market rate in exchange for Borbay retaining like equity ownership in the artwork.

This is not a discount. It is intentional alignment between artist and patron — a shared stake in the long-term narrative of the artwork.

Under the BEPM:

  • The collector retains full physical custody of an original
  • Borbay retains an equity interest equal to the percentage applied
  • Equity remains attached in perpetuity unless mutually negotiated otherwise

Any transfer — sale, auction, donation, or institutional placement — honors that equity proportionally and requires written agreement to preserve provenance integrity.

This model is offered selectively to collectors committed to long-term placement and context.

PRIVATE COMMISSIONS

Borbay accepts a limited number of private commissions each year.

These engagements begin with concept and conversation, not price lists. They are designed for patrons who want an original that is intentional, narrative-driven, and rooted in personal or cultural context.

  • Commissions begin at a meaningful threshold and are intended for collectors with long-term placement intent
  • Final acquisition reflects scale, complexity, and conceptual ambition
  • Terms are fixed at project inception
  • A deposit confirms placement on the studio calendar

Not all requests are accepted. Commissions begin at a meaningful threshold and are intended for collectors with long-term placement intent.

ON-LOCATION COMMISSION BLOCKS

For patrons seeking depth, Borbay undertakes on-location commission engagements, producing a cohesive block of three or more originals created in situ.

These are immersive projects — context is not a backdrop, it is part of the artwork’s DNA. Executing a body of original works on-location eliminates logistical friction and embeds narrative and place into the art itself.

On-location blocks are structured as single, all-inclusive engagements that reflect:

  • Cohesive narrative arc
  • Creative immersion
  • Shared time and attention between artist and patron

Availability is exceptionally limited. Projects are scheduled only when scope, location, and patron alignment converge.

acquisition process

Borbay’s approach is not transactional — it is intentional.

  1. A qualified inquiry is submitted
  2. Terms and placement context are confirmed
  3. Alignment on acquisition structure (standard or BEPM)
  4. Contract execution and payment
  5. Professional delivery

Each original includes:

  • Signed Appraisal Letter documenting provenance
  • Curated handling and logistics
  • Direct communication with the artist
