Turned Myself to Face Me, 52.5″X93.5″, Acrylic on Belgian Linen
COMMISSION
Many collectors discover Borbay through an existing painting.
Others arrive with an idea — a place, cultural icon, or moment they would like translated into a painting.
A commission allows collectors to work directly with the artist to create a painting that carries personal meaning while remaining true to Borbay’s visual language.
Over the years, Borbay commissions have been created for private collectors, entrepreneurs, athletes, and cultural institutions.
Each commissioned work becomes a part of Borbay’s evolving body of work.
COMMISSION INVESTMENT
Borbay commissions are created across a range of scales depending on the subject and the space where the painting will live.
Many collectors choose 30″×30″, a format used across several Borbay series. Collectors seeking greater visual impact often select slightly larger works such as 36″×36″ or 40″×40″.

1. CONVERSATION
Each commission begins with a conversation.
Collectors share the subject or idea they would like explored. This may include reference images, locations, or simply a concept.
The goal is to determine whether the idea fits naturally within Borbay’s style and ongoing series.
2. CONCEPT AND SCALE
Once the direction is clear, the scale of the painting is determined.
Collectors often commission works intended for a specific space, and scale can be adjusted to precise specifications.
3. RESERVATION
To begin the project, a simple one-page agreement is issued.
A 50% deposit reserves the painting and secures a place in the studio schedule.
The remaining balance is due upon completion of the work.
4. CREATION
When the painting enters the studio rotation, the work begins.
Collectors occasionally receive updates as the painting develops.
Most commissions are completed within two to three months, depending on scale and the studio schedule.
5 — COMPLETION AND DELIVERY
When the painting is finished, final images are shared with the collector.
Once approved and the balance has been paid, the painting is professionally packed and shipped, or collected directly from the studio.
STUDIO VISITS
Collectors traveling through the Teton Valley / Jackson Hole region are welcome to visit the studio by appointment.
Seeing a painting in person reveals scale, surface, and presence in a way photographs cannot.
Many commissions begin with a studio visit.
FINAL NOTE
A commission is a collaboration between collector and artist that becomes part of Borbay’s evolving body of work.
Some collectors begin with a commission.
Others commission their next painting after acquiring an existing work.
Each project begins with a conversation.
